There is nothing we can say about Crete that hasn’t been written in travel books, holiday agendas or blog reviews. Its natural beauty, long history, unique scenery and authentic living have been praised hundreds and hundreds of times from authors, journalists, travellers and even locals. Crete has so much to offer it may be very stressful for some, however at Elounda we want you to have the best time, relaxing and enjoying the best of Crete, without missing out in anything important. Here’s what we suggest you do during a typical 7 days stay.
Day 1: Do nothing. You’re at last on holidays! Today it’s all about you and your loved ones! Spend the morning in bed, calling for in-room breakfast! Take your time, dive at your private pool, relax in the jacuzzi or start working on some tanning, reading a book on your villa’s or suite’s terrace. In the afternoon request from the front desk to call for a transfer to Elounda Gulf Private Beach and book from now a table at Argo for dinner. Get in bed early in the night, and binge-watch whatever is on TV, that you’ve been missing due to work!
Day 2: Start your day with a hearty breakfast and a small trip to Spinalonga. Explore the recent, tragic, but also brave recent history of Cretans, through an islet that serves as a living museum. Returning to EGV head to the pool bar, for a snack and a dive to cool off. Passing from our front desk ask the to arrange transfers for tomorrow, either by a driver, or renting a car. After dark, just relax in your private pool for more intimate moments and some casual dining with a place of cheese and fruits brought over.
Day 3: Today is the day you visit Knossos. Eat a good breakfast and off to Heraklion! Visiting the ancient site of Knossos palace and the Archaeological museum will do doubt leave you hungry for more… Thankfully there are so many great places to eat that you only have to worry if you’ll leave room for dessert! Cool off with a dive in local's favourite beach, Agia Pelagia, where most combine it with a quick bite or head back for dinner at EGV’s finest restaurant, Daphni.
Day 4: Start your day enjoying the Elounda Gulf breakfast variety and then relax by the pool or the private beach, while the kids will have fun at EGV Kids Club. Work on your tan and read some more of your book, relaxing and feeling great!. In the afternoon, head to The Palm forest of Vai, a beautiful and unique in Europe natural palm forest, take a swim at the sandy coast and head back to the EGV. Make a stop at the picturesque Agios Nikolaos village for dinner; we suggest the fish!
Day 5: Skip breakfast and head to Ierapetra, around one hour drive towards the southern part of Crete, with its picturesque town and beautiful beaches. First stop the boat trip to Chrissi island, it's the reason you're here so early! Small or larger boats start every morning taking you to a secluded island with golden, coral like beaches! It's worth every minute of the trip. For dinner visit one of the local exquisite taverns or drive home to recharge your batteries and eat at Argo restaurant (who knows? maybe a theme night is on!)
Day 6: Start with a light breakfast and ask for a spa treatment at the front desk, that you won't even have to leave your villa! It’s one of these days where you can enjoy all the benefits of being a member of the EGV Club! For the afternoon you can either visit The Lasithi Plateau with its windmills, or why not, stay in and soak up in the sun; after all, that’s why you came!
Day 7: We’re not here to tell you what to do! Replay one of the previous days, stay in your villa all day dancing to the latest Bruno Mars song or swim your day away in EGV’s private beach or your suite’s private pool! Whatever you decide, one thing is certain: Elounda will be an experience you’ll cherish a lifetime.
